RESOLVING FAMILY CONFLICTS WHILE GAINING NEW STRENGTH

There are phases in life in which families face major challenges that they cannot overcome on their own. Daily conflicts increase and living together becomes more and more difficult. The triggers are often not recognizable for those involved, and both parents and children feel overwhelmed.

Systemic family therapy offers a helpful approach here by looking at mental disorders from a new and radically different perspective: Every person is seen as part of a system, in which every change affects all members. Correspondingly, the mental health of each individual can be affected by dysfunctional relationships and unfavorable communication patterns.

Family problems are therefore not defined as a disturbance of individual people, but are traced back to a disturbance in the entire system. In systemic therapy, we assume that every disorder has a purpose.
